Before you start

• Pick a dry day with no rain forecast for 24 hours. Rain soon after application washes it off before it has done its job.
• Put on chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection.
• Keep it out of ponds, dams, pools, fish tanks and gutters that drain to them — it is very toxic to aquatic life.
• Plan to cover plants you do not want sprayed.
• Test a small, hidden patch on painted or coated surfaces.
• Set expectations with the customer: results are gradual, over weeks to months, not the same day.

Step by step

1. 1

   Clean the surface first and let it dry

   Wash off loose dirt and growth (HydraWash with chlorine), rinse thoroughly and let it dry. HydraBio is cancelled out by detergent residue, so rinse all soap off before you apply it.

2. 2

   Mix it

   Use the calculator above. Add HydraBio to your sprayer or tank, then top up with clean water. Mix fresh and use the same day. About 125–150 L of mix does an average double-storey home.

   Tip: Use a sprayer or tank that has been rinsed clean of soap and chlorine.

   Protect what you are not spraying

   Cover plants you want to keep, and make sure run-off cannot reach ponds, dams or pools.

   Apply from the bottom up and soak the growth

   Spray at low pressure until the surface is evenly wet, working from the bottom up to limit runs. Make sure the growth itself is thoroughly soaked — coverage matters more than strength.

   Leave it on — do not rinse

   Walk away. The growth loosens and releases over the following weeks, and the weather carries it off over the months after, depending on weather and how heavy the growth was.

   Second application for heavy lichen

   Thick lichen may need a second application after 4–6 weeks. Use 1:7 for a faster result on heavy growth.

   Maintenance

   Use 1:14 straight after a wash as a maintenance coat on clean surfaces.

Do not mix. Do not mix with HydraWash or other detergents, chlorine / sodium hypochlorite, HydraPure or acids — they cancel it out. Wash first, rinse, let dry, then apply HydraBio on its own.

Surface guide

Roof tiles (terracotta and concrete)

1:9 for most jobs, 1:7 for heavy lichen. Soak the growth well.

Render and brick walls

1:9. Apply from the bottom up to limit runs.

Sandstone

1:9. Soak the growth, leave on.

Concrete, pavers and paths

1:9, or 1:7 on heavy growth.

Fences and decking

1:9. Test on painted or stained timber first.

Painted and coated surfaces

Test a hidden patch first.

Troubleshooting

Safety

WARNING Harmful if swallowed. Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye irritation.

Wear protective gloves and eye protection. Do not breathe mist or spray. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using. Avoid release to the environment.

First aid

If swallowed

Rinse mouth. Call a Poisons Information Centre or doctor if you feel unwell.

If on skin

Wash with plenty of water. If skin irritation occurs, get medical advice.

If in eyes

Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists, get medical advice.

If inhaled

Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing.

Storage

Store in a cool, well-ventilated place out of direct sun. Keep closed. Keep away from detergents, chlorine and acids.
